Car carrier explosion in Gulf of Oman – photos which prove nothing, plus speculations

Feb 27 UPDATE: The ship arrived at Dubai in the morning Feb 27, and was anchored. There are no confirmed official reports on ship’s condition, except reports from two U.S. defence officials cited by AP of two holes in the port and starboard sides of the vessel (four total), just above the waterline.
Several photos circulate in social nets and via them, in media, show internal damages on a cargo deck of assumedly, HELIOS RAY, though again, there are no corroborations of photos being genuine. According to security agencies, holes most probably, were the result of external explosions.

Mainstream media stick to Israeli official version (because the ship is managed by Israeli company) of Iran being behind this explosion, it’s already labeled as an “attack”. I don’t know, but the story so far, remains a mystery. Photos don’t prove or demonstrate much, if anything. Speculations and hasty conclusions is all we have now. I don’t think that we’ll be shown or said anything more definite, decisive and proven. Too much politics in the whole story.

Initial news:

Feb 26: Car carrier HELIOS RAY reportedly suffered explosion on board in Gulf of Oman at night Feb 25, while en route from Dammam Saudi Arabia to Singapore. The ship continued her sailing but several hours later turned back, and as of 1200 UTC Feb 26, is heading towards Persian Gulf. Crew reportedly, are safe, there’s no danger to ship, extent of damages if any, unknown at the moment.
