CMA CGM adquiere el grupo OPDR

El grupo francés CMA CGM ha anunciado la adquisición de la naviera alemana OPDR (Oldenburg - Portugiesische Dampfschiffs - Rhederei GmbH & Co. KG), hasta ahora propiedad del holding Bernhard Schulte, a su vez especialista en negocios de short sea shipping (SSS) y servicios logísticos puerta a puerta entre Europa del Norte, la Península Ibérica, Canarias y Marruecos, con más de 200 colaboradores dedicados. Esta nueva adquisición refuerza la presencia de CMA CGM en el creciente mercado europeo de transporte marítimo de corta distancia, como parte de una estrategia para ampliar su red, que inició en 2012 con la compra de MacAndrews.

El ‘Majesty’ ha estado navegando hasta ahora para Royal Caribbean.
El grupo Pullmantur ha despejado este viernes las dudas sobre el que será el sexto barco de su flota y que ya había adelantado hace unos meses. Se trata del “Majesty”, un buque gemelo del “Sovereign y Monarch”, que a partir de abril de 2016 se incorporará a la flota, permitiendo un aumento de capacidad del 30% en el número de pasajeros, hasta los 520.000 viajeros anuales.
Según Jorge Vilches, CEO y presidente de Pullmantur, “la llegada del Majesty jugará un papel muy importante en los planes de crecimiento de nuestra compañía, y es una muestra más del compromiso del Grupo Royal Caribbean por el crecimiento de Pullmantur y Croisières

Deployment of around 54 ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs) between October 2014 and December 2015 along the Asia-Europe trade route is expected to have massive effects on trade.
With a minimum TEU-capacity of 10,000, Drewry Shipping Consultants believe ULCVs may help to bring carriers lower slot costs.
World Maritime News has reported Drewry as saying that the ULCVs may have the ability to change supply-demand dynamics, spot freight rates, and adjust the competitive balance between the alliances.
A statement from Drewry read:“The delivery of over 50 ULCVs in the next 15 months is a double-whammy for the alliances. Lower slot costs are a positive, but they will struggle to cope with the additional capacity in the Asia-North Europe trade and the 60 ships that will be cascaded
