Maritime battery market: Sunlight takes majority stake in Lehmann Marine

Greek battery producer Sunlight Group has decided to acquire a 51% stake in Lehmann Marine, a Germany-based lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery systems specialist.

The investment agreement is said to represent a strategic move to strengthen both companies’ positions in the rapidly expanding maritime battery market.

As explained, the partnership aligns with the global shift towards sustainable shipping solutions, driven by the need to reduce emissions and enhance operational efficiency.

Norway announces 2025 oil and gas drilling permits, plans Arctic push

Norway on Tuesday awarded stakes in 53 offshore oil and gas exploration licences to 20 companies in its annual licensing round, and announced plans for increased drilling in its offshore Arctic region, the energy minister said.

The annual award fell from 62 licences awarded one year ago while the number of oil and gas firms receiving permits declined from 24.

"If we are to uphold a stable production in the years to come, we must explore more and invest more," Energy Minister Terje Aasland told a conference.

Nortrans Offshore wins flotel work on Romanian gas project

Singapore-based Nortrans Offshore has landed a charter deal with Italian offshore engineering and construction giant Saipem for one of its maintenance and support vessels.

The 2015-built flotel Temis will work on the Neptun Deep gas development project in the Romanian part of the Black Sea. The contract duration is set for an initial 160 days, with an additional option of up to 170 days. Financial terms of the deal were not revealed.

The vessel can accommodate 500 people and will play a role through the hook-up and commissioning phase of Neptun Deep and provide subsequent assistance to the start-up of the safe work procedure.
