The Japanese Coast Guard is searching for survivors after a ro-ro cargo ship collided with a chemical tanker and sunk in the Kurushima Strait in southern Japan. Nine crewmembers from the cargo ship have been rescued but the captain, first engineer, and second engineer remain missing.
The Japanese ro-ro Byakko, owned by the Prince Kaiun Co., departed Kobe on the afternoon of May 27 heading north for the port of Kanda. The 6,800 dwt vessel was less than a year old built to operate in coastal waters carrying up to 800 commercial vehicles and trailers. There was a crew of 12 aboard.

Strong winds and rough seas hampered the combined effort by responders to contain the blaze aboard the Singaporean flagged container vessel MV X-Press Pearl in the anchorage off Colombo yesterday, as the Indian Government dispatched Coast Guard ships and aircraft to assist following a request by the Sri Lanka Navy.

El Ever Given llenó hace un mes las portadas de los periódicos de medio mundo. Este megabuque portacontenedores fue liberado el pasado 29 de marzo de los bancos del canal de Suez, que había bloqueado durante días, atascando una de las principales arterias para el comercio marítimo mundial. Visto en perspectiva, la operación de rescate del coloso resultó ser relativamente fluida. Pero eso no quiere decir que los problemas hayan desaparecido.
Hace semanas que el tránsito de buques en el canal de Suez ha recuperado la normalidad, con la única
